Toy Packaging for Major Brands

Whilst working for Character Options, I designed packaging across a range of major brands, including Disney and the BBC. My role covered the full process from working out pack dimensions and creating cutter guides, to building mock-ups, liaising with Hong Kong manufacturers to produce blister forms, photographing and retouching products, and working within (or creating) style guides.

BBC – Planet Earth Puzzle Packs

I designed a range of 9 puzzle packs (including 8-in-1 and 3-in-1 formats). With no existing style guide, I developed a look and feel using organic curves to showcase the puzzles, combined with the iconic Earth halo and a colour-coded system to differentiate piece counts. I also created cutter guides and mock-ups.

DISNEY

  • Cars: Piston Cup Race Game – created cutter guide, applied style guide, photographed and retouched product imagery.

  • Winnie the Pooh: Hoppin’ Honeypots Game – cutter guide, style guide application, product photography and retouching.

  • WALL·E: Rubbish Rummage Game – cutter guide, style guide application, product photography and retouching.

  • High School Musical: Rainbow Skipper – defined pack size, created complex cutter guide, designed product image and logo.

OTHER BRANDS

  • Who Wants to Be a Millionaire – designed blister pack and liaised with Hong Kong manufacturers for production.

  • DAM Trolls – created complex cutter guides for CDUs, keyring packaging and 18 “Good Luck” 5” character packs with accessories.
