THE DRUM CHIP SHOP AWARDS

The Chip Shop Awards, run by The Drum, celebrate bold, unfiltered creativity free from the usual client constraints.

My work was shortlisted from thousands of entries, and has since been submitted annually by The Marketing Store. The awards provide a platform to explore more provocative, tongue-in-cheek ideas that push beyond the boundaries of commercial briefs.

Category: Best Work for a Client You Have, but Haven’t a Hope in Hell of Running

A simple yet effective idea: adapting the Costa Coffee logo by adding “lot” to the end subtly highlighting that their coffee is a lot more expensive than McCafé.

SELECTED ENTRIES

Best Ad from the Future
A dystopian concept imagining a future where fish no longer exist. A traditional fish and chip shop “catch of the day” board instead displays a plastic bottle highlighting environmental impact through a stark, thought-provoking visual.

Best Use of Bad Taste
Inspired by a real news story, this ad features a roll of toilet paper printed with a Yodel delivery calling card. Created for Royal Mail, the line reads: “Our special deliveries don’t stink.”

Best Ad Without a Headline
Following the legalisation of cannabis in Canada, this ad features a full-bleed Canadian flag with the maple leaf replaced by a cannabis leaf, paired with subtle Air Canada branding designed to spark curiosity and tourism.
