ROALD DAHL – BACK TO SCHOOL PRODUCT VISUALS
I created a series of concept mock-ups for The Roald Dahl Story Company, exploring how the brand’s iconic stories could be translated into a playful and engaging back-to-school product range.
Each title required careful consideration of its individual style guide including colour palettes, patterns, and tone of voice which were applied consistently across single-title products and thoughtfully combined for multi-title designs.
The concepts were designed to enhance everyday school items through storytelling and interaction, bringing the characters and worlds to life in a fun and imaginative way.
PRODUCT CONCEPTS
The range included a variety of creative and interactive ideas:
An Enormous Crocodile pencil case with a zip-through jaw, allowing the character to “snap” and move
A James and the Giant Peach circular notebook, paired with a peach-scented rubber
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sweet-scented highlighters, each themed around different sweet
Matilda stationery set, featuring notebooks, pencil wraps using signature patterns, and pens with inspirational quotes
Additional items included lunch boxes, bags, pencil cases, notebooks, and apparel such as coats, tracksuits, pyjamas, and jumpers.
The range also extended into accessories and footwear:
Branded badges and multi-title sticker sets
School shoes featuring hidden character artwork inside
Trainers inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with sweet-themed detailing around the sole
Enormous Crocodile trainers incorporating the character art along the side of the sole
The project focused on balancing brand consistency with creative exploration demonstrating how licensed IP can be applied in fresh, commercially engaging ways.
